About us

This website has been created and is maintained in the framework of a specific support action, the so-called “ASIACOOP initiative”, funded by the Directorate General Information Society and Media (DG Infso) of the European Commission (EC) as part of the "EU Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development" (FP).

It is updated in close liaison with the International Relations Unit of DG Infso and aims at providing European and Japanese organisations interested in the development of R&D cooperation projects in the ICT field with relevant information and useful links, in particular related to an upcoming event, the “2008 EU-Japan Cooperation Forum on ICT Research”, to be organised on March 4-5, 2008 at the Mita Kaigisho Conference Hall in Tokyo, under the aegis of the European Commission (DG Infso), the Ministry of Internal Affaires and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the Ministry of Foreign Affaires (MOFA).

Organisations more generally interested in the development of S&T cooperation in the ICT field between the European Union (EU) and Asia may find it useful to visit the www.EuroAsia-ICT.org dedicated website, another web portal also maintained in close liaison with the International Relations Unit of DG Infso.

We hope this platform will contribute, even modestly, to strengthening the already longstanding links of friendship and mutual esteem that unite the European and Japanese ICT communities.
